DAY 3 • Friday • Beijing

Visit Tiananmen Square and the Imperial Palace in the Forbidden City, including the jewelry section. This afternoon, tour Beijing's old Hutong (“narrow lanes”) area. At the Drum Tower, see a traditional drum performance. Then take an old-fashioned pedicab to the picturesque Shichahai Lake area with its 700-year-old Yuan Dynasty arched bridges and courtyard-style homes known as Siheyuans. Tour one of the ancient homes and visit with a local family. Stop at a Hutong kindergarten (if school is open) and a vegetable market. Tonight, toast your arrival in China with a glass of wine at a welcome dinner party featuring delicious Beijing Duck.

Walk along the Great Wall today and then visit a cloisonné factory. Later, stroll along the Sacred Way to the Ming Tombs and Chang Ling Exhi­bition Hall. Buffet dinner at The Ritz-Carlton.

DAY 5 • Sunday • Beijing/Shanghai

Late morning flight to Shanghai. Check into your Five-Star hotel, then enjoy a buffet dinner at your hotel.

DAY 6 • Monday • Shanghai

Sightseeing highlights: the Shanghai Museum, including an audio tour pointing out the special features of the museum's permanent collection, Nanjing or Huai Hai Road shopping streets, Yu Garden, the renowned Shanghai Carpet factory, the colonial-era Bund and the Children's Palace. Tonight, after dinner, attend a perfor­mance of the renowned Shanghai acrobats.

DAY 7 • Tuesday • Shanghai/Xi'an

The morning is at leasure. Afternoon, fly to historic Xi'an. This evening, enjoy dinner and a fabulous show at the Tang Dynasty Theatre.

DAY 8 • Wednesday • Xi'an

See the world-renowned legion of terra-cotta warriors and the Bronze Chariot. Enjoy the Circle Vision Movie. A delicious dumpling lunch at Defachang Restaurant. On to tour the Shaanxi Provincial Historical Museum with our exclusive visit to the private artifact room where you actually white-glove handle some of the national treasures from the museum's collection. Tonight, enjoy a buffet dinner at the hotel.

This morning visit the exquisitely constructed Wild Goose Pagoda. Then in the afternoon fly to Guilin, set in the heart of a magnificent landscape. Dinner at the hotel.

DAY 10 • Friday • Guilin

A deluxe cruise on an air-conditioned boat along the Li River reveals the haunting beauty of Guilin's mist-wrapped peaks en route to Yangshuo. Enjoy lunch on board the boat. Buffet dinner at the Sheraton.

DAY 11 • Saturday • Guilin/Hong Kong

This morning, see dramatic rock formations at Reed Flute Cave and Fu Bo Hill. Enjoy a dim sum lunch at the Sheraton. Then take a late afternoon flight to exciting Hong Kong.

Today we show off this dynamic city; sightseeing includes Stanley Market, then on to fashionable Repulse Bay, followed by a sampan ride to see the floating community at Aberdeen. Ride to the summit of Victoria Peak which affords unsurpassed panoramic vistas of the city.
