Today's tour introduces impressive Tiananmen Square and the once-Forbidden City's Imperial Palace, with admission to the living quarters, museum and jewelry sections. After lunch, continue to the exquisite Summer Palace, with a cruise on Lake Kunming (weather permitting).

A highlight of your visit to China today: stroll along the ancient ramparts of the renowned Great Wall. Visit a cloisonné factory and observe the skilled artisans create intricate designs. Walk along the statue-lined Sacred Way to the Ming Tombs and Chang Ling Exhibition Hall.

DAY 5 • Monday • Beijing |
A free day – you might join our optional Hutong (“narrow lanes”) tour. You will visit the Drum Tower Pagoda to admire city views, and enjoy a traditional drum performance. Then an old-fashioned pedicab carries you through the Hutong's ancient alleys. Stop at a Siheyuan (courtyard-style) family residence and visit with a local family. If school is open, visit a Hutong kindergarten and then a vegetable market.

Explore this historic city on your own. Perhaps take an optional tour of the exquisite Temple of Heaven, or shop for souvenirs.

Fly to historic Xi'an, ancient capital of China. Then see the scenic Wild Goose Pagoda.

A memorable day of sightseeing today as you view the extraordinary life-sized terra-cotta army, no two alike, buried for over 2200 years; Circle Vision Movie; Bronze Chariot, Shaanxi Provincial Historical Museum and a jade carving factory.
