Deluxe Tour & Downsteam Yangtze Cruise
Visiting Great Wall, Beijing, the famous Three Gorges of the Yangtze River, Chongqing, Fengdu or Wanxian and Shanghai.

European styled Bund, Shanghai

Day 1 & 2 – Depart USA, Arrive Beijing
Your journey to China begins as you depart the USA. Arrive in Beijing the next afternoon and transfer to your hotel.

Day 3- Bejing
Begin your exploration of this exciting city with a walk through Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City former home of the Emperors of China. This afternoon, visit the Badaling section of the Great Wall of China, noted for its many panoramic views.(B,L)

Day 4 – Beijing / Chongqing / Yangtze River Cruise
Depending on river conditions, we’ll either sail to either Wanxian, Fengdu or Shibaozhi. Each of these ancient cities offer our first glimpse into local life along the river. Whether its Wanxian tucked in between rolling mountains, China’s “Ghost City” of Fengdu with its grim statues of ghosts and devils or Shibaozhi’s 12 story red wooden pagoda, each is sure to delight. (B,L,D)

Day 5 - Yangtze River Cruise / Fengdu or Wanxian
On our journey, we'll sail through the famous three gorges - Qutang Gorge, Wu Gorge and Xiling Gorge. Geologists tell us that about 70 million years ago, the area of the Three Gorges was just a vast expanse of water; after millions of years of water erosion the gorges gradually appeared. Today, sheer cliffs and steep rugged mountains rise on either side of the misty river, creating some of the world's most beautiful vistas. All along the river there are small villages and green terraced fields. During the cruise, you'll hear stories and legends about many of the scenic spots and places of historical interest. We cruise to either Fengdu or Wanxian today, depending on the river's water level. In Fengdu, China's "Ghost City", we'll see some of the 27 temples filled with grim statues of ghosts and devils. In Wanxian, a beautiful ancient city tucked in between rolling mountains, we'll see some of the city's temples and cliff inscriptions. During sailing time, there is plenty of space on the top deck and at the bow of the boat to sit and watch the beautiful scenery slip by. (B,L,D)

Day 6 - Cruising / Small Three Gorges
We cruise along as the river winds through the spectacular Qutang and Wu Gorges. Later, we board small sampans for a journey up the crystal-clear Danning River to see the Small Three Gorges. Along the way we’ll travel between towering rock walls, see sites of ancient hanging coffins and (with luck) spot some golden-haired monkeys. (B,L,D)

Day 7 – Cruising / Three Gorges Dam / Shanghai
This morning you arrive Yang Jia Wang and visit the Three Gorges Dam site, a controversial, immense construction project that is the largest hydroelectric and flood-control dam in the world. Sail to Yichang and disembark your cruise ship before transferring to Yichang airport for your flight to Shanghai, a cosmopolitan city that has retained the flavor of its European-influenced past. This heritage is particularly evident on the Bund, Shanghai’s main street lined with stately buildings. (B)

Day 8 – Shanghai
Today is free to explore this city on your own.

Day 9 - Return to USA or Extend Your Stay
Return to USA or Extend Your Stay After breakfast bid farewell as you board your return flight to the USA or extend your stay in Shanghai. (B)
