Quebec Experience Program Details
Self drive from Montreal -- 8 days/7nights

Day 1: Arrive Montreal  Pick up your rental car upon arrival at Montreal's Dorval airport.  After checking in to hotel, the day is yours to explore this fascinating city's blend of old and new.  The buildings of Old Town Montreal date from the 1700s, today housing boutiques, galleries and restaurants.  Among the attractions in Old Town is Pointe-a-Calliere and the Museum of Archaeology and History (included) -- don't miss the underground archaeological tour and multimedia show.  Overnight Montreal.

Day 2: Montreal Sightseeing  Take a short excursion out of the city to visit the Fur Trade at Lachine National Historic Site (included) -- interac-tive exhibits depicting life for the fur traders and voyagers of the 18th century.  There are many other activities and points of interest in the Lachine area, or you may wish to return to continue your discovery of Montreal.  The Notre-Dame Basilica is magnificent!  Then dine out, and try your luck at the Casino de Montreal.  Overnight Montreal.

Day 3: Montreal to Trois-Rivieres  Depart Montreal bound for Trois-Rivieres.  En route, visit Fort Lennox National Historic Site (included), an authen-tic reconstruction of a British fortification.  Next on your journey is Fort Chambly Natikonal Historic Site (included) a stone fort built by the French in 1711 and restored in 1983.  Overnight Trois-Rivieres.

Day 4: Trois-Rivieres to Quebec City   This morning, visit Forges de Saint-Maurice National Historic Site in Trois-Rivieres (included), birthplace of  Canada's steel industry.  Next, continue northward to La Maurice National Park, a hiker's paradise.  Continue to your destination, Quebec City, founded in 1606 and North America's only European-style "walled" city.  There are a number of excellent national historic sites within the city, each presenting a glimpse of Canada's past.  For a great overview of the country's history, see the Quebec Experience multimedia show (included) -- great entertainment too!  Overnight Quebec City.

Day 5: Quebec City Sightseeing  Continue your discovery of Quebec's fascinating past with visits to Battlefield Park (included) and the Musee du Quebec.  Modern-day Quebec City is terrific, too -- sidewalk cafes, artists and extertainers, shopping, galleries, all brimming with French passion and joie de vivre.  Overnight Quebec City,

Day 6: Quebec City to Montmagny  Depart Quebec City southbound over the St. Lawrence River to Levis, where you'll visit Fort #1 Pointe-de-Levy National Historic Site (included), one of three forts built in the 1860s to repel American invasions of Quebec.  Then continue to your next stop at the Migration Museum (included), devoted to explaining the amazing miracle of bird migration -- many waterfowl stop at Montmagny.  Overnight Montmagny.

Day 7: Montmagny Sightseeing  Today, enjoy a tour of Gross-Ile and the Irish Memorial National Higitage Site (included), which commemorates the immigration of thousands of Irish citizens to Canada.  Grosse-Ile was a quaratine location for immigrants and today is a quaint and lovely rural island in the St. Lawrence River.  The rest of your day is at leisure to explore Old Montmagny.  Overnight Montmagny.

Day 8: Montmagny to Montreal  Return to Montreal to return your rental car at Dorval airport or a Montreal downtown location.  You may return your rental car at Quebec City at an additonal drop off charge not included.
